the Estimates for next year to cover the cost of an Agency of

the Hongkong Post Office at Chefoo and I shall also provide

for an Agency at Wei-hai-wei-

I have had no replies yet to the communi-

cations addressed to Tientsin and Peking regarding the establish

-ment of Agencies there.

You will observe from Mr. Lockhart's letter that

the cost of the Wei-hai-wei Agency has been increased to $1,200

a year from $600 which it was costing till the recent vacancy

occurred which caused the appointment of Mr. D. Clark as Agent,

and I have to ask your authority for the increased Expenditure.
